Funded Trading Plus rules & hidden risks

The fine print that costs traders accounts

Hidden Risk score

4.8/10

Hidden risk 4.8 out of 10, High

High risk

Average: 5.5

Funded Trading Plus pairs clearly documented drawdown math with broad discretionary language on risk reviews, prohibited strategies and KYC, a structure that creates disputes at most prop firms. What pushes the score into the very-high band is the current operating picture: an undisclosed-on-site change of ownership, a Trustpilot profile with its TrustScore hidden after fake-review removal, and 2026 reviews describing payout records that change status without explanation.

Hidden rules to know before you buy

  1. highdiscretion

    Broad discretionary risk-review powers

Clause 10.5 lets FTP act on behaviours only loosely defined as excessive risk, boom-or-bust news trading, over-leveraging or 'one-sided bets,' with no numeric thresholds published, and clause 10.4 lets it vary what counts as a prohibited strategy without notice.

  2. highkyc

KYC can block an already-funded account indefinitely

Clause 17.12 makes KYC approval a condition of any payout; failing a check 'to FTP's sole satisfaction' results in non-payment and termination, and 2026 reviewers report passport-only demands rejecting other valid ID.

  3. highother

Ownership and leadership change undisclosed on-site

Instant Funding acquired Funded Trading Plus on May 26, 2026, but the firm's own About page still lists Simon Massey as CEO with no mention of the deal, and multiple Trustpilot reviewers say he told them he is no longer the owner while no replacement has been named.

The rulebook

Drawdown3 rules
  • 1-Step Express and Instant Funding use a trailing maximum loss (6%) measured from the high-water mark of simulated balance; it stops trailing and locks once it reaches the initial balance.
  • 2-Step Classic and Activation (Pass Now Pay Later) funded accounts use a static maximum loss (8% and 6% respectively) measured from the starting balance.
  • Daily loss is balance-based and resets at a fixed server time each day (4% on most programs, 6% on Instant Funding).
Consistency & symbol limits3 rules
  • 2-Step Classic requires a consistency score of no more than 35% of total profit from a single day during the evaluation, tightening to 50% on the funded account.
  • 2-Step Classic also enforces a 3% symbol loss limit: no single instrument may lose more than 3% of the prior day's balance, even across several open positions on that instrument.
  • Activation (Pass Now Pay Later) funded accounts carry a lighter 25% consistency check, applied only at the point of payout.
Prohibited strategies3 rules
  • Banned: arbitrage or exploiting pricing-feed errors, tick-scalping, grid trading, high-frequency trading, group or copy trading between different traders, and hedging opposing positions across multiple accounts.
  • EAs, algos and bots are allowed if they follow program rules, but FTP does not provide support for third-party tools and can ask for an EA's source code during a risk review.
  • FTP can vary what counts as a prohibited strategy 'from time to time as it deems appropriate... without notice' (terms clause 10.4).
News & timing3 rules
  • News trading and weekend holding are allowed on 1-Step Express, 2-Step Classic and Activation accounts.
  • Instant Funding accounts must be flat by 4:30pm EST every Friday; open positions are force-closed at prevailing market rates.
  • A 'Boom or Bust' clause lets FTP flag a result that depended on one trade or a cluster of trades around a major news event, even without a specific numeric breach.
Account, KYC & payouts2 rules
  • Accounts expire after 30 consecutive days without a simulated trade.
  • A funded account needs a signed trader agreement and passed KYC/KYB identity checks, including a liveness check, before any payout is released.

What Funded Trading Plus allows

  • RestrictedEAs / botsRestricted

Allowed if they comply with program rules; grid trading, arbitrage and tick-scalping bots are banned, and the firm does not support third-party EAs and may request source code during a risk review.

  • RestrictedNews tradingRestricted

Allowed on every program, but a trade judged a 'Boom or Bust' news gamble under the discretionary risk review policy can still be flagged.

  • RestrictedWeekend holdingRestricted

Allowed on 1-Step Express, 2-Step Classic and Activation (Pass Now Pay Later) accounts; not allowed on Instant Funding, where positions are force-closed by 4:30pm EST every Friday.

  • AllowedOvernight holdingAllowed

Allowed on all programs; accounts are advertised as swap-free, so no overnight financing charge applies.

  • RestrictedCopy tradingRestricted

Allowed only between a trader's own accounts; copying or being copied by another trader is banned and can void profits, and overlapping trades across different traders' accounts can trigger a review.

  • RestrictedHedgingRestricted

Hedging across multiple accounts (your own or another trader's opposing positions) is explicitly prohibited under the terms.

  • RestrictedScalpingRestricted

Ordinary scalping is allowed, but 'tick-scalping' that exploits pricing-feed delays is a listed prohibited strategy.
