Top One Trader review
US-founded CFD prop firm (2023) selling $7 NOVA challenges, instant funding and futures
Our grade
Weak
5.4 / 10 · ranked #6 of 10
Top One Trader sells some of the cheapest ways into a funded account in 2026: a $7 NOVA challenge, a 2-Step PRO with a 9% static drawdown and no consistency rule, and instant accounts up to $500,000. The catch sits in the funded-stage rulebook, where profitable trades must be held five minutes, an Equity Stability Score can stall payouts for weeks and withdrawals are capped at $25,000 per 30 days. Traders who stay inside those rules report payouts landing within minutes to hours, but by September 2026 Trustpilot had suspended the firm's rating and removed fake reviews, and its own terms forbid customers from posting negative ones. Treat it as a cheap, fast-paying firm that you must trade strictly by the book.
Cheap to start and quick to pay, but the funded rulebook is a minefield
Our verdict
Top One Trader is built to be cheap to start. A $100K 2-Step PRO lists at $541 and sells for about $325 with the near-permanent discount codes, NOVA costs $7 up front with unlimited free resets, and the 2-Step PRO pairs a 9% static drawdown with no consistency rule, which is generous by 2026 standards. Payouts, once approved, land fast, and support answers in minutes.
The problem is what happens between passing and getting paid. Funded accounts add a five-minute minimum hold on winners, ESS or consistency scores on instant and NOVA accounts, automatic EquityShield closures, lot caps, daily profit caps and a $25,000 ceiling on withdrawals per 30 days, with profit above it deducted. The rules are written down, but they are numerous and enforced at payout review, which is exactly where most one-star reviews come from. The anti-review clause and Trustpilot's suspension of the firm's rating (with fake reviews removed) by September 2026 are serious reputation flags for a three-year-old firm that contracts through an Anjouan entity.
Our view: usable for disciplined swing or intraday traders who hold well beyond five minutes, run one account at a time and size small, ideally on the 2-Step PRO. Scalpers, EA users, news traders and anyone trading several accounts in parallel will find the rules stacked against them. Read the help-center article for your exact account before buying, and keep withdrawals modest so the locked drawdown still leaves room.
Best for
Patient manual traders who hold positions for more than five minutes and want a cheap static-drawdown 2-step or a $7 NOVA entry.
Avoid if
You scalp, use EAs, trade news or copy trades across several accounts, or you want a firm with a clean, independent review record.
Pros
- 2-Step PRO pairs a 9% static drawdown with no consistency rule and 1:100 evaluation leverage; $100K lists at $541 and the fee is refunded on the 4th payout.
- NOVA costs $7 to start, has no daily loss limit in the evaluation and allows unlimited free resets.
- Fast payouts: reviewers typically report funds within minutes to hours of approval, backed by a stated 24-hour processing guarantee.
- Profit split reaches 100% on Instant Prime from the 3rd payout and via add-ons on 2-Step PRO and NOVA.
- Every rule is documented in a detailed help center with worked examples and per-size limits.
- US traders are accepted on TradeLocker and Match-Trader; MT5 has been available elsewhere since August 2025.
- Near-permanent 40-70% discount codes (SEPT as of October 2026) put a $100K 2-Step PRO at about $325.
Cons
- Profitable trades closed in under 5 minutes have their profit deducted on funded accounts, ruling out most scalping.
- Profits and withdrawals are capped at $25,000 per rolling 30 days across all accounts, and 2-Step PRO payouts at 6% ($15,000) each.
- Trustpilot had suspended the firm's rating and removed fake reviews by September 2026, and the terms forbid negative reviews.
- The 20% ESS on NOVA and Prime counts your worst losing day too, so one big day can delay a payout for weeks.
- The funded stage tightens: EAs banned, FX leverage cut (NOVA 1:100 to 1:30), a 20-lot cap even on $500K, a news blackout and daily profit caps.
- NOVA's $7 headline hides a $165-$1,210 activation fee due within 30 days of passing.
- Contracts run through an Anjouan-registered entity with broad sole-discretion clauses and possible video interviews before payment.
Top One Trader scorecard
How we graded it
Weighted score 5.4/10 → grade D
Methodology →- Payouts 25%5.8
Payouts usually arrive within hours of approval, but about one in five recent negative reviews describes a payout refused or cut under the hold-time, copy-trading or gambling rules, and withdrawals are capped at $25,000 per 30 days.
- Rules & transparency 20%4.3
Everything is documented, but the funded stage stacks a 5-minute hold, ESS and consistency scores, auto-closing EquityShield, lot and daily-profit caps, sole-discretion clauses and a ban on negative reviews.
- Reputation 20%4.0
Three years old with named US founders, but contracts run through an Anjouan-registered entity, Trustpilot suspended its score and removed fake reviews in 2026, and the terms punish critical reviews.
- Trading conditions 15%6.0
List prices are mid-market ($541 for a $100K 2-Step with a 9% static limit) and 40-70% codes run constantly, but funded leverage cuts, per-payout caps, a 2% payout fee and non-refundable FLASH fees erode value.
- Support 10%7.3
24/7 live chat is the most praised feature in roughly 40% of recent positive reviews, though many of those read as solicited after a chat and a minority report slow or dismissive answers.
- Platforms & execution 10%6.3
MT5 (back since August 2025), Match-Trader and TradeLocker with TradingView charts plus Tradovate and NinjaTrader for futures; about 16% of negative reviews complain of spread spikes or slippage.
Who is Top One Trader for?
Fit by trading style
Beginners
OK with caveatsNOVA's $7 entry with free resets and the 2-Step PRO's 9% static drawdown are forgiving, but the funded rulebook punishes anyone who has not read the help center.
Experienced traders
OK with caveatsThe static-drawdown 2-Step PRO with no consistency rule suits disciplined traders, but the $25,000-per-30-days payout cap limits the upside.
Swing traders
Good fitFLASH, PRO and NOVA allow overnight and weekend holds, and trades opened 5+ hours before news may hit stops or targets during the blackout.
Scalpers
Poor fitProfitable trades closed in under five minutes have their profit deducted on funded accounts.
EA & algo traders
Poor fitEAs are allowed only in evaluations; funded and instant accounts ban EAs, bots and API tools, and the futures arm bans automation entirely.
News traders
Poor fitFunded and instant accounts cannot trade 5 minutes either side of high-impact news; only Instant Prime sells a news add-on.

Trustpilot TrustScore
3,494 reviews
Trustpilot hides this firm's TrustScore after a breach of its guidelines. The stars show our average of the visible breakdown (4.5), not an official score.
- · Rating suspended: on 1 October 2026 Trustpilot shows no TrustScore ('rating unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines') and says it removed a number of fake reviews for this company; the banner was already visible by 19 September 2026.
- · The 4.5 shown is our average of the live star split (4.53). The last TrustScore Trustpilot published was 4.5 on 3,003 reviews (Wayback snapshot, 12 March 2026); the profile now lists 3,494 reviews, 1,341 of them in the past 12 months.
- · In the 200 newest reviews (30 June to 1 October 2026) only 6% are verified, 43% of five-star reviews are under 80 characters and a third name a support agent.
- · The firm replies to some negative reviews; several reviewers quote and dispute its responses.
- · The firm's terms bar customers from posting negative reviews on Trustpilot and similar sites, so the review base is likely skewed positive.
- · Sister brand Top One Futures has a separate profile rated 4.8 on 5,038 reviews with no warning (1 October 2026).

Most reported issue · 31% of complaints
Strict funded-stage rules
Nearly a third of one- and two-star reviews blame rules that bite after funding: the 5-minute hold that strips profit from quick winners, ESS and consistency scores that keep pushing payouts back, copy-trading flags on traders' own accounts, lot caps and the EA ban once funded.
Most praised · 40% of positive reviews
Fast, friendly support
About 40% of four- and five-star reviews praise quick live-chat help, usually naming an agent; many are short and posted right after a chat, so they say more about support than about payouts.

Red flags in the reviews
- · Trustpilot suspended the TrustScore by September 2026 and says it removed fake reviews for this company.
- · The firm's terms forbid customers from posting negative reviews, under threat of profit forfeiture and legal action.
- · Only 6% of the 200 newest reviews are verified; 43% of five-star reviews are under 80 characters and a third thank a named support agent.
- · 36 reviews landed on 30 June and 1 July 2026 alone, against about 2 a day for the rest of the sample.
- · Two September 2026 four- and five-star reviews say a Telegram service passed the challenge for them, a practice the firm bans.
- · The one- and two-star share rose from 10% in July to about 26% in August and September 2026.
Our read of the reviews
We analysed the 200 most recent Trustpilot reviews (30 June to 1 October 2026) and the 205 most recent one- and two-star reviews, which go back to May 2025. On the surface the sample is positive: 82% four or five stars and 15.5% one or two. The positive side is thin, though. Only 6% of reviews are verified, 43% of five-star reviews are shorter than 80 characters, a third thank a named support agent and 36 reviews arrived on 30 June and 1 July alone. Trustpilot has since suspended the firm's rating and removed fake reviews, and the firm's terms prohibit negative reviews, so real satisfaction is likely lower than the stars suggest.
The complaints are consistent and specific. About 31% of negative reviews blame funded-stage rules, led by the five-minute minimum hold, ESS and consistency scores and copy-trading flags; a quarter dispute breaches or automatic trade closures; and roughly one in five describe payouts refused or cut. Execution problems (spread spikes and slippage on gold and crypto) and payment problems (duplicate card charges, missing account details) follow. The NOVA rollout added a cluster of complaints in July and August 2026 from traders who had not expected an activation fee after a free or $7 challenge.
The trend is negative. Monthly volume fell from 100 reviews in July to 27 in September while the one- and two-star share rose from 10% to about 26% and the average rating slipped from 4.44 to 3.93. Traders who do get paid say it is fast, which matches the firm's pitch; the risk is concentrated in how strictly the rules are enforced at payout time.

Top One Trader pass rate
How hard is it to pass?
Challenge pass rate
10%
~10% (our estimate, paid challenges)
Bar = this firm · line = average of the 10 firms we grade (10.1%)
Top One Trader does not publish a pass rate. Its paid evaluations are about as demanding as FTMO-style programs for which firms have disclosed roughly 10% pass rates (2-Step PRO: 8% then 5% against a 9% static limit; FLASH: 10% against a 7% trailing limit, a tougher ratio), so we estimate about 10%. NOVA's unlimited free resets raise the share of persistent traders who eventually pass, but each pass then costs a $165-$1,210 activation fee; a community tracker showing 2 passes in 7 reports is too small to use.

The fine print
Hidden Risk score
6.3/10
Very high risk
Average: 6.3
Most accounts here are lost or trimmed by funded-stage rules rather than by drawdown: winners closed inside five minutes lose their profit, ESS and consistency scores delay payouts, EquityShield force-closes positions and anything above $25,000 in 30 days is deducted. Add sole-discretion risk clauses, possible video interviews before payment, a ban on negative reviews and an offshore contracting entity, and the rulebook gives the firm wide room to refuse money.
- highstrategy
5-minute minimum hold on winners
Any profitable trade closed in under five minutes, including by take-profit, counts as tick scalping; on funded accounts the profit is deducted at payout review and repeat cases can end the account.
Source - highpayout
$25,000 per 30-day payout ceiling
Net profits plus withdrawals across all of a trader's accounts are capped at $25,000 per rolling 30 days and profit above the cap is deducted; 2-Step PRO also caps each payout at 6% of the account or $15,000.
Source - highconsistency
Equity Stability Score counts your worst day
NOVA and Prime payouts need an ESS of 20% or less, calculated as best day plus worst losing day divided by total profit, so a $500 best day and a $400 worst day require $4,500 of total profit before any withdrawal.

Payout mentions in recent reviews
30 of the latest 200 reviews talk about payouts.
Payout speed is the firm's strongest suit: 22 of the 30 payout mentions in the 200 most recent Trustpilot reviews (30 June to 1 October 2026) are positive, typically describing money arriving minutes to hours after approval. The flip side is a steady stream of rule-based refusals: about 19% of the 205 most recent one- and two-star reviews describe payouts denied or cut, most often for the five-minute hold rule, copy-trading flags between a trader's own accounts or 'gambling' findings (one reviewer says a $13,000 request was cut to about $6,000 in August 2026).

About Top One Trader
Founded 2023 · Sheridan, Wyoming, United States
Top One Trader launched in September 2023 (per PropFirmMatch) and is run by a group of US entrepreneurs and trading coaches: Matt Morris (CEO), Clay Hodges (Chief Trading Officer), Todd Hodges (COO) and Brycen Coffman, who is also listed as a CEO on the firm's about page. The terms describe Top One Trader as a trade name of Top One Trader, LLC, card charges show that LLC, and Trustpilot lists a Sheridan, Wyoming registered-agent address. The website footer, however, names Top One Trader Ltd with a registered office in Anjouan, Comoros, and an Anjouan 'International Brokerage and Clearing House' licence (L15829/TOT), while funded accounts are simulated under a separate Top One Funding agreement.
The lineup changes often. By late 2024 the firm was running TradeLocker, Match-Trader and cTrader rather than MetaTrader; it announced a MetaQuotes licence and brought back MT5 in August 2025. 2-Step PLUS, Amped and PAYDAY (closed 1 August 2026) have been retired, the pay-after-you-pass NOVA challenge was live by early 2026, a rebuilt 2-Step PRO launched on 17 May 2026 and a limited-time $500K Magnum account was on sale by late September 2026. As of October 2026 it sells One-Step FLASH, Two-Step PRO, NOVA, Instant Funding, Instant Prime and Magnum, plus crypto-only accounts on toponecrypto.com.
Scale claims vary by site and none is audited: toponetrader.com cites over $5 million in payouts and 27,641+ traders, the Top One Crypto site claims $24 million+ paid across all Top One brands, and the Top One Futures site claims $29 million+. Top One Futures, launched in April 2025 as Top One Futures, LLC (Cheyenne, Wyoming) under the same CEO, sells Elite Daily, Elite Access, Instant Sim Funded and Ignite futures accounts on Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView; its Trustpilot profile (4.8 on 5,038 reviews) is separate from the suspended Top One Trader profile.
Trader tip
Hold every winner for at least six minutes (the rule is five, and platform timers can differ), and never place the same trade on two funded accounts within 30 minutes. Before requesting a payout, work out your ESS or consistency score yourself with partial closes merged, and leave a buffer above the starting balance, because the drawdown locks there once you withdraw.

Top One Trader FAQ
Questions traders ask
Is Top One Trader legit?
Top One Trader is a real, three-year-old firm with named US founders that does pay traders, often within hours of approval. But it contracts through an Anjouan-registered entity, Trustpilot had suspended its rating and removed fake reviews by September 2026, and its terms ban negative reviews. Treat it as legitimate but high-risk on rules.
Does Top One Trader actually pay out?
Yes. Most recent reviews that mention payouts are positive, with money arriving minutes to hours after approval through Rise. Around one in five recent one- and two-star reviews, though, describe payouts refused or cut for breaking the five-minute hold, copy-trading or gambling rules.
How long do Top One Trader payouts take?
The firm reviews requests within 24-48 business hours and says it sends funds within 24 hours once your Rise account is set up. Traders commonly report money within minutes to a few hours of approval. The first payout comes 14 days after funding (30 days on Instant Funding).
What is the Top One Trader pass rate?
The firm does not publish one. Based on targets and drawdown limits similar to FTMO-style challenges, we estimate about 10% of paid FLASH and 2-Step PRO attempts pass. NOVA's free resets raise the odds of eventually passing, but each pass then needs an activation fee.
What are Top One Trader's hidden rules?
The big ones are a five-minute minimum hold on profitable trades, a $25,000 cap on profits and withdrawals per 30 days, ESS or consistency scores on instant and NOVA accounts, EquityShield closures at 2% floating loss per symbol and daily profit caps on funded FLASH and PRO accounts. All are in the help center, but most only apply once you are funded.
Can you trade news with Top One Trader?
Only during evaluations. Funded and instant accounts cannot open, close or modify trades five minutes either side of high-impact news, and a stop or target filling in that window also counts unless the trade was opened at least five hours earlier. Instant Prime sells a news add-on.
Are EAs allowed at Top One Trader?
Your own EA is allowed during evaluations only. Funded and instant accounts ban EAs, bots and any external API tool, and commercial EAs are banned everywhere. Top One Futures does not allow automated trading at all.
Does Top One Trader accept US traders?
Yes. US residents can trade on TradeLocker or Match-Trader, but MetaTrader 5 is not offered in the US, Canada, US territories or Puerto Rico. The firm excludes 26 countries, including Pakistan, Vietnam, Turkey and Ukraine.
Is there a Top One Trader discount code?
On 1 October 2026 the site shows code SEPT for up to 70% off (40-70% depending on program and size) and BOGO for a free second NOVA challenge. Discounts of this size run almost constantly, so there is little reason to pay list price.
Who owns Top One Trader?
The firm was founded by Matt Morris (CEO), Clay Hodges, Todd Hodges and Brycen Coffman. Purchases run through Top One Trader, LLC in the US, while the site names Top One Trader Ltd, registered in Anjouan, Comoros; the same team runs Top One Futures.
What happens if I breach a Top One Trader account?
A hard breach (daily or maximum loss, inactivity or a prohibited strategy) closes the account and forfeits its profits. Breached evaluations can be reset at a discount within 14 days and NOVA evaluation resets are free; funded resets cost $95 to $5,592 and are not available after an approved payout.
Top One Trader 1-step vs 2-step: which is easier?
The 2-Step PRO is usually easier: 8% then 5% against a 9% static drawdown with 1:100 FX leverage. The One-Step FLASH needs 10% in one go against a 7% trailing drawdown with only 1:10 FX leverage, though it gets you funded in one phase.
What is the Top One Trader ESS rule?
The Equity Stability Score adds your best day and your worst losing day and divides by total profit; it must be 20% or lower to withdraw on NOVA and Prime accounts (15% on Magnum). A $500 best day and a $400 worst day mean you need $4,500 of total profit before a payout.
Why does Top One Trader have no Trustpilot score?
By September 2026 Trustpilot had stopped showing the firm's TrustScore, citing a breach of its guidelines, and says it removed fake reviews. The last published score was 4.5 on 3,003 reviews in March 2026; the 3,494 reviews still listed average about 4.5, but recent ones are dominated by short five-star posts that name support agents.
