Alpha Capital Group, an English prop firm founded in late 2021, sells some of the cheapest static-drawdown two-step accounts on the market ($397 for a $100K Alpha Pro 6%, $527 for the 8% version) and documents its rules in unusual detail. That detail is also the catch: funded accounts sit under a per-asset Max Risk Rule, lot caps checked at payout time, a 2-minute rule, a news blackout that also blocks exits, and a discretionary 1% 'risk group'. Since August 2026 Trustpilot has withheld the firm's rating for a guidelines breach and says it removed fake reviews, and September brought a wave of traders reporting payout-stage terminations over device and IP matches. It can work for disciplined, low-risk traders, but treat any payout as uncertain until it lands.

Cheap static-drawdown accounts and detailed rules, undercut by a 2026 wave of payout-stage bans

Our verdict

On paper Alpha Capital is good value. A $100K Alpha Pro 8% costs $527 on the default on-demand option with a static 8% drawdown, a 4% balance-based daily limit, no time limit and three minimum days per phase; the 6% version is $397. The rules are published in long, specific help articles, the company is a real English entity, and its newest restriction, the Max Risk Rule, applies only to accounts bought after 21 July 2026 rather than retroactively.

The problems start after you pass. Funded accounts carry a per-asset open-loss cap of 2-3% (1% on Alpha Direct) that closes the account, lot limits that are only checked when you ask to be paid, a 2-minute average-duration rule, a news blackout that also blocks closing trades, and a discretionary 'Focused Trader Group' that can cut leverage and cap risk at 1% per position. The terms let the firm decide what is prohibited at its discretion, withhold fees at its sole discretion and bar customers from public criticism. In August 2026 Trustpilot withheld the firm's rating for a guidelines breach and said it had removed fake reviews; in September our sample of 1-2 star reviews filled with traders, many with earlier paid payouts, whose accounts were terminated at the payout review over device or IP links to other users.

Our view: Alpha Capital still pays many traders, and a careful, low-risk trader who registers every device and IP with support in advance can do fine here. But the September 2026 enforcement wave, falling payout totals on the firm's own figures, the trouble at sister firm Alpha Futures and the suppressed Trustpilot score add up to real counterparty risk. If you buy, buy small, request payouts early and often, and do not let profit pile up in the account.

Best for

Disciplined intraday or swing traders who want static drawdown at a low price, trade a few instruments with small per-trade risk, and will declare every device and IP to support.

Avoid if

You scalp, trade news, run EAs, share a household or network with another Alpha trader, or need a firm whose payout record and reviews you can verify independently.

Pros

  • Static drawdown on Alpha Pro: 6%, 8% or 10% max loss with 3-5% daily limits, from $397 (6%) to $527 (8%) for $100K on the default on-demand option.
  • No time limits, with 3 minimum trading days per phase on Pro and Swing and 1 day on Alpha One.
  • Four platforms (MT5, cTrader, DXtrade, TradeLocker), and US residents are accepted on DXtrade and TradeLocker.
  • A real English company (no. 13719951) under English law, with rules published in detailed help articles; the Max Risk Rule was not applied to accounts bought before 21 July 2026.
  • Payouts via Rise, Wise or bank transfer with a 2-business-day target; many reviewers report funds within 2-4 business days.
  • Alpha Direct instant accounts from $30 ($2,500) with a 90% split, plus a scaling plan to $2M on Pro and Swing.

Cons

  • Trustpilot has withheld the rating since August 2026 for a guidelines breach (it says fake reviews were removed), and the latest 200 reviews are 29.5% one-star.
  • A September 2026 wave of payout-stage terminations over device-ID and IP links, raised in about 30% of recent 1-2 star reviews.
  • Funded accounts close on a 2-3% open loss on one asset (1% on Alpha Direct) under the Max Risk Rule.
  • The discretionary 'Focused Trader Group' can cut leverage to 1:30 and cap risk at 1% per position after you pass.
  • The terms include sole-discretion payout refusal, a non-disparagement clause and customer-pays legal costs regardless of outcome.
  • Evaluation fees are never refunded, and Bi-Weekly payouts on Alpha Pro cost more than On-Demand ($427 vs $397 for a $100K Pro 6%).
  • Annual payouts fell from about $60M (2024) to about $20M (2025) on the firm's own figures.

Alpha Capital Group scorecard

How we graded it

Weighted score 5.3/10 → grade D

Methodology →
  • Payouts 25%5.0

Many traders are paid within 2-4 business days, but a 2026 wave of payout-stage terminations over device and IP links, the 2024 mass ban and a drop from about $60M (2024) to about $20M (2025) in annual payouts on the firm's own figures put it in the recurring-denial band.

  • Rules & transparency 20%4.5

The rules are written down in detail, but the Max Risk Rule, 2-minute rule, spamming and gambling definitions, the discretionary 1% risk group and sole-discretion clauses give the firm many ways to void profits after the fact.

  • Reputation 20%4.0

An English company operating since 2021 with named directors, but Trustpilot has withheld its rating since August 2026 and says it removed fake reviews, its terms contain a broad non-disparagement clause, and the 2024 mass ban and Alpha Futures payout voiding weigh on trust.

  • Trading conditions 15%7.0

Static-drawdown Pro accounts at $397-$527 per $100K with no time limit and 3 minimum days are competitive, offset by an 80% base split, no fee refund and tight funded-stage caps.

  • Support 10%6.0

Live chat and email are fast for routine questions (48% of positive reviews name an agent), but disputes drag, Trustpilot replies take 7.7 days on average, and several reviewers say they were removed from Discord after complaining.

  • Platforms & execution 10%7.0

MT5, cTrader, DXtrade and TradeLocker on a group-linked broker is a good choice, but about 12% of recent negative reviews cite slippage or wide spreads, mostly around news.

Who is Alpha Capital Group for?

Fit by trading style

Beginners

Poor fit

Entry is cheap ($27-$47 for $5K), but the funded stage adds a per-asset loss cap, lot caps, a news blackout and possible 1% risk-group placement that punish typical beginner mistakes.

Experienced traders

OK with caveats

Static-drawdown Pro accounts at $397-$527 per $100K are good value, but consistently profitable traders are the ones reporting payout-stage terminations in 2026.

Swing traders

OK with caveats

Alpha Swing allows weekend holds and news with a 10% static floor, but it costs $577 per $100K, runs at 1:30, and the funded Max Risk Rule (2% open loss per asset on $50K and up) limits holding through drawdowns.

Scalpers

Poor fit

The 2-minute average-duration rule, the 50% profit test and the position-spamming ban target scalping directly, and extreme scalping is a trigger for the Focused Trader Group.

EA & algo traders

Poor fit

Only pre-approved trade-management EAs on MT5 are allowed; fully automated strategies are banned outright.

News traders

Poor fit

Funded Pro, One and Direct accounts cannot open or close trades within 5 minutes of a long list of releases, and Swing news trades are watched under the gambling rules.

Red flags in the reviews

  • · Trustpilot withheld the rating in August 2026 and says it removed a number of fake reviews.
  • · 43% of five-star reviews in the recent sample are under 80 characters, and 48% of 4-5 star reviews name a support agent.
  • · The one-star share in the latest 200 reviews is 29.5%, versus 7.0% across the whole profile.
  • · One reviewer says staff contacted them by phone and WhatsApp asking for a good PropFirmMatch review around a payout request.
  • · Several reviewers say earlier negative reviews were removed and that they were banned from Discord after complaining.
  • · The firm's website shows a static 'Excellent' Trustpilot badge image while the live rating is withheld.

Our read of the reviews

We analyzed the latest 200 Trustpilot reviews (15 September to 1 October 2026) and the 202 most recent 1-2 star reviews (20 July to 30 September 2026). The recent sample is sharply split: 61% five-star and 29.5% one-star, against 7% one-star across the whole profile. Only 4.5% of recent reviews carry Trustpilot's verified label, 43% of the five-star reviews are under 80 characters, and almost half of the 4-5 star reviews thank a named support agent, a pattern typical of reviews prompted during support chats. Trustpilot itself has withheld the firm's rating since August 2026 for a guidelines breach and says it removed fake reviews.

The complaints are specific and consistent. About 58% of the negative sample describe a payout denied or an account terminated at the payout review, and about 30% say the reason was a device-ID (CID) or IP match with another customer: a household member, an old account or a shared network, sometimes from months earlier. Several of these traders say they had already received payouts. Others describe being moved into the 1% risk group after passing, Max Risk Rule closures on small floating losses, 2-minute and position-spamming breaches, KYC rejections over Google or VPN-flagged IPs, and slow or no replies once a dispute starts.

The praise is mostly about service and payouts that did arrive: traders report funds two to four business days after a request, often after a short video 'risk interview', and name support staff for quick help. The volume of 1-2 star reviews rose from about seven a week in late July to 24-35 a week in September 2026, so we rate the trend as declining.

Bar = this firm · line = average of the 10 firms we grade (10.1%)

Finance Magnates reported in December 2024, in an article built on figures Alpha Capital supplied, that the platform's average evaluation pass rate is 20%. The firm did not say whether that counts each phase or full qualification, and the figure predates the 2026 line-up (Alpha Direct, cheaper Pro variants, Max Risk Rule), so treat it as a dated, unaudited company number.

The fine print

Hidden Risk score

7.3/10

Hidden risk 7.3 out of 10, Very high

Very high risk

Average: 6.3

Alpha Capital's evaluation rules are simple; the funded stage is not. A funded account can be closed by a 2-3% open loss on one instrument, or lose profit to the 2-minute rule, a lot cap checked only at payout, a news blackout that also blocks exits, or a weekend hold on Alpha Pro, and the firm can move you into a 1% risk group at its discretion. In August and September 2026 the most common route to a lost payout in reviews was a device or IP overlap with another customer, sometimes dating back months.

  1. highdrawdown

Max Risk Rule closes funded accounts on a single-asset loss

On funded accounts bought after 21 July 2026, floating loss on any one instrument may not reach 3% ($5K-$25K), 2% ($50K and above) or 1% (Alpha Direct, from the first trade). Same-direction re-entries within 10 minutes are added together, and a breach closes the account even if daily and max drawdown are intact.

    Source
  2. highdiscretion

Discretionary 'Focused Trader Group' after you pass

The risk team can move a funded account into a group with 1:30 leverage (1:15 on Swing), halved lot caps, a 1% cap on total open risk, a next-day cooling-off on any symbol that loses 1%, and no EAs. Triggers include scalping, 'all or nothing' risk and heavy margin use; leaving it takes one or two payouts at the starting balance and a discretionary review.

    Source
  3. highstrategy

2-minute rule can wipe funded profits

Average trade duration must exceed 2 minutes and at least 50% of profit must come from trades held longer than 2 minutes, counting trades taken while below the starting balance. A breach after passing sends you back to Phase 1; on a funded account all profit is removed and the balance reset.

About Alpha Capital Group

Founded 2021 · Harpenden, United Kingdom

Alpha Capital Group Limited was incorporated in England on 2 November 2021 by George Kohler and Andrew Blaylock, who remain its two directors; the firm says it onboarded its first client in March 2022. It has since grown into the 'Alpha Group': Alpha Futures (futures evaluations, launched in Q3 2024), ACG Markets (the group-linked broker behind the simulated trading environment, which the firm says is regulated by the Seychelles FSA), Alpha Prime (a live-capital desk in London for top performers) and an in-house platform, Alpha Trader, still marked 'coming soon' for Alpha Capital accounts. Since 1 April 2026 the company has been majority-owned (75% or more, per Companies House) by Alpha Group UK Holdings Ltd, which is split between three corporate shareholders including Kohler Investment Group Ltd; Finance Magnates reported in 2024 that the owners were Kohler, Alexander Hagan and a company owned by Blaylock.

The firm markets itself as London-based and lists a London address on Trustpilot, but its registered office and the place of business named in its terms are both in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. It is not authorized by the FCA, and its own terms state that customers are not covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service. All accounts are simulated, and 'performance fees' are paid from the firm's own funds.

Scale is large but self-reported: the site claims 1.2 million users and more than $100M in performance fees. Alpha told Finance Magnates it paid about $60M in 2024 and $120M in total by December 2025, which implies roughly $20M in 2025, a sharp fall on the firm's own numbers. 2026 has brought heavy change: a July overhaul with Instant Funding (Alpha Direct) and cheaper Alpha Pro accounts, the Max Risk Rule on new funded accounts, the closure of sister firm Alpha Futures' Premium Plan with pending payouts voided, and the loss of the firm's Trustpilot rating.

Trader tip

Before your first funded trade, email support listing every device, VPN or VPS and any household member who trades with Alpha, and keep the reply; undeclared device or IP overlaps were the most common reason for terminated accounts in September 2026. On funded accounts, keep floating loss on any single instrument well under 2% (1% on Alpha Direct) and wait more than 10 minutes before re-entering the same direction after a loss.

Alpha Capital Group FAQ

Questions traders ask

Is Alpha Capital Group legit?

Alpha Capital Group Limited is a real, active English company (no. 13719951, incorporated November 2021) run by directors George Kohler and Andrew Blaylock, and it has paid many traders. It is not regulated as a financial firm, its accounts are simulated, and Trustpilot has withheld its rating since August 2026 for a guidelines breach, saying it removed fake reviews. Legit, but with higher-than-usual rule and payout risk in 2026.

Does Alpha Capital Group actually pay out?

Yes, many traders report payouts via Rise, Wise or bank transfer, and the firm claims more than $100M paid in total. However, its own figures imply annual payouts fell from about $60M in 2024 to about $20M in 2025, and in August and September 2026 a large share of negative reviews describe payouts denied and accounts terminated at review over device or IP links.

How long do Alpha Capital payouts take?

The firm promises payment within 2 business days of an eligible request, not counting the request day or weekends, so a Friday request typically lands on Tuesday. Reviews generally report 2-4 business days; first payouts can take longer because of a risk interview and extra checks, which the terms allow to stretch to 14 business days.

What is the Alpha Capital pass rate?

Alpha told Finance Magnates in December 2024 that its average evaluation pass rate was 20%. That is an unaudited company figure, it is unclear whether it counts each phase or full qualification, and it predates the 2026 product changes.

What are Alpha Capital's hidden rules?

The rules that catch most funded traders are the Max Risk Rule (a 2-3% open loss on one asset closes the account, 1% on Direct), lot caps checked at payout, the 2-minute average-duration rule, the 5-minute news blackout that blocks closing trades, the weekend-hold ban on funded Alpha Pro, and the discretionary 1% 'Focused Trader Group'. Undeclared shared IPs or devices are the most common reason for terminations in recent reviews.

Why does Alpha Capital Group have no Trustpilot score?

Trustpilot replaced the score with a warning that the rating is unavailable due to a guidelines breach and says it removed a number of fake reviews; the change happened between 31 July and 21 August 2026. The profile still holds 21,807 reviews, and the latest ones are far more negative (29.5% one-star) than the all-time split (7%).

Can you trade news with Alpha Capital?

During evaluations, yes, without limits. On funded Alpha Pro, One and Direct accounts you cannot open or close trades on affected instruments from 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after listed high-impact releases, and stop or limit fills in that window void the profit. Alpha Swing allows news trades if they stay open longer than 2 minutes.

Are EAs allowed at Alpha Capital?

Only trade-management EAs (lot calculators, stop and target managers, break-even tools) that support pre-approves, on MT5 only, and they must be used during the evaluation to stay enabled when funded. Fully automated EAs are banned, and EAs are disabled on Alpha Direct, swap-free and Focused Trader Group accounts.

Does Alpha Capital accept US traders?

Yes, but not on MetaTrader 5: US residents trade on DXtrade or TradeLocker, and cTrader is closed to new US customers. The firm paused new US sign-ups in February 2024 during the MetaQuotes licensing crackdown and announced a US return at the end of May 2024.

Is there an Alpha Capital discount code?

The firm's official codes page lists 10KFOR40 ($10K evaluation for $40), ALPHA20 (20% off all accounts) and FUNDED40 (40% off Alpha Direct) for 1-31 October 2026. When we tested on 1 October, only 10KFOR40 was accepted at checkout. Evaluation fees are never refunded, so a discount is the only way to lower the cost of a failed attempt.

Who owns Alpha Capital Group?

Since April 2026 Alpha Capital Group Limited has been at least 75% owned by Alpha Group UK Holdings Ltd, which is split between three companies including Kohler Investment Group Ltd. The directors are co-founders George Kohler (Managing Director) and Andrew Blaylock, and the same group runs Alpha Futures, ACG Markets and Alpha Prime.

What happens if I breach an Alpha Capital account?

A daily-loss, max-loss or Max Risk Rule breach is a hard breach: open trades are closed and the account ends with no refund. Soft breaches, such as a weekend hold on funded Pro or a news-window fill, remove the profit from those trades. Prohibited strategies, group trading or IP violations can end every account you hold and lead to a ban.

Alpha One vs Alpha Pro: which is easier?

Alpha One needs a single 10% target and 1 minimum day, but its 6% drawdown trails your highest balance until you are up 6%. Alpha Pro 8% needs two phases (8% then 5%) and 3 days each, but its drawdown is static, leverage is 1:100 versus 1:30, and the $100K costs $527 versus $477. Traders who struggle with drawdown usually find Pro's static floor more forgiving.

What is the Alpha Capital Max Risk Rule?

Introduced on 21 July 2026 for newly bought funded accounts, it closes the account if floating loss on any single instrument reaches 3% (accounts up to $25K), 2% ($50K and above) or 1% (all Alpha Direct sizes). Losing positions on the same asset are added together, and closing and re-entering the same direction within 10 minutes also combines the losses.
