Maven Trading rules & hidden risks
The fine print that costs traders accounts
Hidden Risk score
6.9/10
Very high risk
Average: 5.5
Maven's written targets are simple, but its Terms let it put a 1% risk cap on any account, including ones that have already passed, at any time. That lines up closely with what 2026 Trustpilot reviewers describe — accounts closed on vague grounds right after a payout request — and Trustpilot has itself hidden Maven's TrustScore for a guideline breach.
Hidden rules to know before you buy

Discretionary 1% risk cap can be applied retroactively, on any account, at any time
Section 5 of the Terms lets Maven cap risk to 1% of balance — breaching an account if equity drops below that — "at any point within your trading journey," even on accounts not advertised with a 1% rule. Dozens of 2026 Trustpilot reviews describe this cap appearing without warning, often right after a profitable run or a payout request.

A clause against negative reviews threatens account termination
Section 14 states traders agree "not to defame Maven LLC on social media and review sites," and that doing so "will lead to account termination and further action when necessary" — a contractual disincentive to post a bad review or public complaint.

Trustpilot has hidden Maven's TrustScore for a guideline breach
Trustpilot's own banner says Maven's rating is "unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines" and that it has removed a number of fake reviews for the company. Maven's own site instead promotes a curated Feefo testimonial carousel, where it can choose which quotes appear.

A mandatory "risk interview" often precedes a payout denial or account closure
Above roughly $5,000 in payouts the FAQ requires a video risk interview. Dozens of negative reviews describe being invited to one right after requesting a payout, then having the account terminated for broad reasons such as "gamifying" or "rule-optimization," with no specific trade or evidence offered.

Fee is refundable only after a third payout, and liability is capped at one month's fees
Section 6 makes the evaluation fee refundable only "after receiving three payouts," far later than the first-payout refund most competitors offer, and section 11 caps Maven's total liability to a trader at the amount paid in the one-month period prior to a claim.

Mini Challenge's 24-hour deadline is labeled as a payout-speed figure, not a time limit
The Mini product page shows only "Payout frequency: Funded 24 hours" in its pricing widget. The FAQ separately states the whole challenge must be completed within 24 hours of the first trade; Trustpilot reviewers say they lost accounts or money because the page never disclosed this as a hard deadline.

Disputing a card payment is an automatic permanent ban
Section 6 of the Terms states users who dispute (chargeback) a payment "will have their accounts permanently banned," removing a standard consumer-protection route even when a trader believes they were charged in error.
Source - mediumconsistency
Consistency and minimum-profitable-day rules differ by program and are easy to miss
Standard 2-Step requires 3 separate days with at least 0.5% profit each, on every phase and the funded account; Omo requires 4 such days with payouts additionally capped at 6% then 8% of balance; Instant caps any single day at 20% of total profit. None of these percentages appear on the pricing cards — only in the FAQ.

The rulebook
Drawdown & risk limits3 rules
- Daily loss and max loss limits vary by program: 2%/3% (Instant, Mini), 3%/5% (Standard 1-Step), 4%/8% (Standard 2-Step, Omo), 2%/3% per phase (Standard 3-Step), and 4%/10% in evaluation then 4%/8% funded (BNPL).
- Instant uses a trailing drawdown; Standard 1/2/3-Step, Omo and Mini use a static drawdown measured on equity.
- A discretionary 1% floating-loss cap can be imposed on any account at Maven's sole discretion, per the Terms, regardless of the account's advertised limits.
Prohibited strategies5 rules
- Copy trading between two Maven accounts is banned; both accounts are breached if found.
- Exclusive hedging of a single challenge/account, and reverse or group hedging across linked accounts, are banned.
- Excessive scalping — holding 50% or more of trades for under a minute — is flagged as a prohibited style.
- Expert Advisors: the Terms contain contradictory language, one clause requiring prior approval and another stating EAs are not permitted under any circumstances.
- Traders who are also registered with another prop firm are not permitted to hold a Maven account, per the Terms.
News & timing3 rules
- News trading is restricted to within 2 minutes of a ForexFactory red-folder release on every program except Instant, which is exempt.
- Omo funded accounts may trade news, but profit earned within the window is capped at 0.5% of the account.
- Omo and Mini require a minimum 150-second hold before a trade counts toward progress.
Consistency & minimum days3 rules
- Standard 2-Step requires at least 3 profitable days (≥0.5% each) per phase and on the funded account.
- Omo requires at least 4 profitable days (≥0.5% each) per phase and on the funded account; missing this fails the phase even if the overall profit target is met.
- Instant and BNPL (once funded) cap any single day at 20% of total profit; Mini applies a 15% equivalent per earlier FAQ research.
Payouts & payment5 rules
- Standard, Instant, Omo and BNPL accounts pay out every 10 business days; Mini pays out once only, within 24 hours of becoming funded.
- Omo payouts are capped at 6% of the funded balance for the first payout and 8% for the second.
- The challenge fee is refundable only after a trader's third payout, not the first.
- Payments are accepted by card, crypto or other unspecified options; withdrawals go by direct bank transfer (available in a limited set of countries), the Rise platform ($20 fee), or other unspecified options.
- Disputing a card payment (chargeback) results in a permanent account ban, per the Terms.
Account, KYC & discretion4 rules
- Identity verification runs through Veriff; several reviewers report repeated rejections or delays at the payout stage.
- A clause bars traders from posting negative or defamatory content about Maven on social media or review sites, on pain of termination.
- Maven's total liability to a trader is capped at the fees paid in the prior one-month period.
- 25 countries are restricted from trading with Maven, including Russia, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen and, notably, Saint Lucia itself, where one Maven entity is registered.
