Blue Guardian rules & hidden risks
The fine print that costs traders accounts
Hidden Risk score
6.3/10
Very high risk
Average: 5.5
The written profit targets and drawdowns are simple, but Guardian Shield - an automatic position-closer set well inside the advertised drawdown - lives only in a help-center article the firm can edit at will, and reviewers allege it has already been tightened without notice. Combined with shared-device payout denials, broad discretion clauses in the Terms, and a hidden Trustpilot TrustScore, the realistic risk of losing a payout to a rule you didn't expect is high.
Hidden rules to know before you buy
- highdiscretion
Guardian Shield auto-closer sits well inside the advertised drawdown
Guardian Shield force-closes every open position once floating loss hits 1% (Instant/Nano accounts) or 2% (Standard accounts) of the balance, far tighter than the 3-10% daily/overall drawdown Blue Guardian advertises on its pricing page, and is documented only in a help-center article rather than the Terms and Conditions.

Reviewers allege the Guardian Shield threshold was tightened without notice
Multiple 2026 Trustpilot reviewers describe the Guardian Shield threshold moving from 2% to 1% floating loss with no direct notification, only a quiet help-center edit, while the Terms explicitly incorporate the help center 'as amended from time to time.'
- highaccount
Shared-device (CID) detection can deny a payout on circumstantial evidence
Several detailed reviewer accounts describe payouts rejected and accounts permanently blacklisted over an alleged shared-device or IP match, with traders saying Blue Guardian would not disclose the matching methodology used.

Trustpilot hides Blue Guardian's TrustScore for a guidelines breach
Blue Guardian's Trustpilot page currently displays 'this company's rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines,' hiding the TrustScore outright even though the profile still holds 2,095 reviews.
Source - mediumdiscretion
Discretionary 'excessive risk' and 'boom or bust' rules
The Terms let Blue Guardian judge 'excessive risk,' 'boom or bust' trading and strategy consistency in its 'sole and absolute discretion,' with no published thresholds.
Source - mediumcosts
All sales final; fee refund requires a fourth payout
No refunds are given once evaluation credentials are issued; the purchase fee is instead refunded only after a trader's fourth payout on accounts bought from 21 January 2026 onward, and never on Instant Starter accounts.
Source - lowcosts
3% fee on every payout
Blue Guardian deducts a 3% processing fee from every payout on top of the profit split, so the amount received is smaller than the figure on the payout certificate.

Futures risk limits are fixed dollar caps, not clean percentages
Daily loss and drawdown limits on the futures Standard, Reserve and Express programs are set as fixed dollar amounts per account size rather than a flat percentage, so the effective risk budget varies by tier in ways that are easy to misjudge.
The rulebook
Drawdown & Guardian Shield4 rules
- Daily loss and overall drawdown reset at 5pm EST off the higher of balance or equity.
- Trailing-drawdown products lock to a static floor plus a 1% buffer once the account reaches its profit-lock threshold.
- Guardian Shield automatically force-closes every open position once floating loss reaches 1% (Instant/Nano accounts) or 2% (Standard accounts), regardless of the stated daily or overall drawdown.
- A first Guardian Shield breach cuts the funded profit split to 50% permanently; a second breach permanently closes the account.
Consistency & Trading Days3 rules
- Consistency rules range from 15% (Instant Starter) to 50% (Nano programs), measured as the largest single day's profit against total profit for the payout period.
- 1-Step and 2-Step Standard programs carry no published consistency rule; Nano, Instant, Instant Starter and BNPL programs do.
- Minimum trading days before a payout range from none (2-Step Nano) to 5 (Instant, Instant Starter, 1-Step Nano), counted as any day with at least 0.5% profit.
News & Timing4 rules
- News trading is allowed during evaluation phases on every program.
- On funded accounts, trades may not be opened or closed within 5 minutes either side of high-impact news or FOMC events; affected profits are removed.
- Instant Standard accounts purchased from 13 November 2025 onward ban news trading outright rather than just restricting a window.
- A minimum 2-minute hold time applies to every trade; closing faster can be flagged as tick scalping.
Prohibited Strategies & Gambling4 rules
- Exploiting platform or feed errors, latency or hedge arbitrage, reverse arbitrage, and using off-the-shelf or 'pass the challenge' strategies are all banned.
- Margin usage above 80% on a running trade is classified as gambling and can lead to payout rejection or termination.
- Hedging within one account is allowed; hedging across separate Blue Guardian accounts is strictly prohibited.
- The Terms and Conditions give Blue Guardian 'sole and absolute discretion' to judge excessive or 'boom or bust' risk-taking, including after a trade has already closed in profit.
Account, Device & KYC5 rules
- Each account must be traded from the registered holder's own device; shared devices, VPS instances or logins linked across multiple accounts (CID matching) can trigger payout disqualification or a permanent ban.
- KYC is required before the first payout request on every program except Instant Starter, which requires none.
- Account passwords cannot be changed from the one Blue Guardian issues.
- Accounts must be registered in the trader's legal name, since payouts are processed to the account holder only.
- At least one trade every 30 days is required or the account is treated as inactive and breached.
Payouts & Refunds4 rules
- Payouts are reviewed within 24 business hours of an eligible request; the window pauses for weekends, compliance review or missing documentation.
- Every payout carries a 3% processing fee.
- $200K, $300K and $400K accounts cap the first two payouts at $10,000 each before the cap lifts.
- All evaluation sales are final once credentials are issued; the fee is refunded only after a trader's fourth payout, for accounts bought from 21 January 2026 onward, and never on Instant Starter accounts.
