Fintokei rules & hidden risks

The fine print that costs traders accounts

Fintokei publishes its drawdown formulas and prohibited-strategy list in real detail, but a profile-wide 'Consistency Rules' clause and an 'Article 37'-style Provider Program clause let it cap, restrict or end a trader's entire account profile on its own judgment of 'unsustainable' or randomness-like trading, with no published numeric threshold, and that single issue drives the largest share of its negative reviews.

Hidden rules to know before you buy

  1. highdiscretion

Provider Program discretion clause ('Article 37')

Fintokei's General Terms let it terminate, restrict or refuse a payout at its sole discretion when it decides trading data does not fit its internal framework; reviewers consistently refer to this as Article 37. Decisions are reported as final, with only a partial data selection shared and no formal appeal.

  2. highconsistency

Profile-wide Consistency Rules can cap or close every account at once

Beyond the per-trade 1% daily consistency rule, a separate profile-level policy lets Fintokei restrict or close all accounts under one trader's profile after 3+ warnings, or if it judges the overall pattern 'unsustainable,' randomness-like, or suspicious of hedging/copy trading without firm proof.

  3. mediumdrawdown

Daily loss limit recalculates off a moving EOD snapshot, enforced live

Each day at 00:00 UTC Fintokei snapshots EOD equity (or EOD balance on ProTrader Swing) and the next 24h cannot fall more than the program's daily percentage below that snapshot, so the reference point moves with results day to day. Breach is checked against live equity and disqualification is immediate, not held until end of day.

The rulebook

Drawdown4 rules
  • Daily loss limit recalculates every day at 00:00 UTC against that day's EOD equity snapshot: 5% on ProTrader, 5% (balance-based, excluding open trades) on ProTrader Swing, 3% on StartTrader, 2% on SwiftTrader.
  • Overall max loss is static against the starting balance: 10% on ProTrader and ProTrader Swing, 6% on StartTrader, 3% on SwiftTrader.
  • Both limits are monitored on live equity; a breach closes the account immediately rather than waiting for the end of the trading day.
  • Maximum allowed risk on any single open trade is 3% of account value, based on stop-loss distance or Fintokei's own Value-at-Risk estimate, whichever is lower.
Prohibited strategies5 rules
  • Hedging or opposite trading, and copy trading, across multiple accounts or traders.
  • Tick scalping, defined as opening and closing a trade within 10 seconds; a warning triggers once over 10% of trades qualify, repeat violations end the account.
  • One-sided betting (large trades during high volatility or news without a stated strategy), all-in trading, and account rolling (pushing an account to its limit, then buying another).
  • Third-party EAs or paid services used to pass an evaluation, latency arbitrage and high-frequency trading.
  • Using one device for multiple customers, paying for a challenge on someone else's behalf, or masking/rotating IP addresses across countries.
Consistency & profile rules4 rules
  • Evaluation phases: no more than 40% of a phase's profit target may come from a single day.
  • Funded accounts: no more than 1% of profit, measured against the starting balance, may come from a single day.
  • Separately, profile-wide Consistency Rules can restrict or close every account under a trader's profile after 3+ warnings, or if Fintokei judges the overall pattern 'unsustainable,' randomness-like, or suspicious of hedging/copy trading without firm proof.
  • Rule changes are communicated at least 14 days before taking effect, per Fintokei's own policy.
Account, KYC & payments5 rules
  • Maximum combined initial balance in the funded phase: $400,000 across ProTrader and ProTrader Swing together, $200,000 across SwiftTrader, $100,000 across StartTrader, before any Loyalty capital boost.
  • Up to 200 open or pending orders at a time; a 30-day inactivity rule applies.
  • KYC identity verification is required before payout.
  • Challenge fees are non-refundable under all circumstances.
  • Services are not offered to residents or citizens of the United States, India, Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Myanmar, Syria, Yemen, Cuba, Venezuela, Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia or Iraq, with Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China temporarily restricted; new purchases from Malaysia are also currently paused.
Payout rules4 rules
  • Minimum withdrawal: €100 / $100 / 2,000 CZK / 20,000 JPY on StartTrader, ProTrader and ProTrader Swing.
  • SwiftTrader requires a 3% minimum profit before the first payout.
  • Payouts are available every 14 days per account, starting 14 days after the first trade on the funded account.
  • Payout methods include bank wire/SEPA, the Walletory e-wallet and crypto in selected countries.

What Fintokei allows

  • RestrictedEAs / botsRestricted

Third-party EAs or paid signal/strategy services used specifically to pass an evaluation are banned, along with latency arbitrage and HFT; a trader's own personal EA isn't separately addressed in public materials.

  • RestrictedNews tradingRestricted

Not banned by name except as noted, but large one-off trades around high-impact news with no stated strategy are treated as prohibited 'one-sided betting'; ProTrader Swing explicitly allows news trading.

  • AllowedWeekend holdingAllowed

Not on the prohibited list. ProTrader Swing is purpose-built for it (swap-free); other programs incur normal swap charges over the weekend.

  • AllowedOvernight holdingAllowed

Allowed on all programs; only ProTrader Swing's daily loss limit ignores open overnight positions until they are closed.

  • Not allowedCopy tradingNot allowed

Opposite trading, hedging or copy trading across multiple accounts or traders is explicitly banned and is cited in many post-payout account terminations.

  • Not allowedHedgingNot allowed

Hedging across multiple accounts or traders is explicitly listed as a prohibited practice under the firm's Key Rules.

  • RestrictedScalpingRestricted

Tick scalping (opening and closing within 10 seconds) triggers a warning once over 10% of trades qualify and termination on repeat; wide, inconsistent Gold and index spreads are a frequent scalper complaint.
